Letter of Recommendation (Robert Benson)
My name is Don Shaw and I’m a retired Southern California Edison employee from the Transmission Department. I retired from Edison in an early retirement package with 30 years in the Transmission Department. My title when I retired was Supervisor of Line Construction and Maintenance, at their Orange County Grid and Metro Grid in Rosemead. I was retired for approximately one year, when I was contacted by the current Manager at that time of the two Transmission Grids above, who asked if I would return as an estimator in the Orange County Grid. I did return as a contractor estimator and worked for various Transmission Grids, for the next 24 years, doing line design and relocation estimates. During this 24 years period I also worked with Transmission Engineering Department in Rosemead, on their TLRR project and to providing order of magnitude estimates to correct infraction caused by new loading conductor conditions.
During the above Transmission project, we also looked at the condition of the Transmission painted and galvanized structures within the SCE service territory. We did find some structures which required additional inspection, testing and reports requested by Transmission Engineering.
Mr. Robert Benson was retained through an existing SCE approved contractor to visit all the sites which required additional testing and to provide a written report to Transmission Engineering. Transmission Engineering used Mr. Benson’s report to engineer a solution for the repair of the damaged structures.
The report which was provided Mr. Benson was very detailed and provided in timely time manner, which prevented further deterioration and/or replacement of the structures.
I was the SCE Representative assigned to the project to work with Mr. Benson and Transmission Engineering. I was very impressed with his professional approach to the project and his reports to Engineering.
I would highly recommend him and his company to SCE and any other company seeking his service.
